Welcome To The Hypermobility & Co. Resource Page

Whether you’re new to the world of Hypermobile Spectrum Disorder (HSD) and/or Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (hEDS) or an experienced individual seeking additional resources…this page is for you.

This page is divided into three main sections, with relevant research and resources included within each section:

  • hEDS/HSD
  • Dysautonomia
  • Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS)

We know this list isn’t exhaustive and there is so much more great information out there. If you believe that something important should be included on this page, please send an email with your suggestion and we will add it if we determine it is a good fit!

I hope this resource page is helpful on your journey!

Dysautonomia

Dysautonomia encompasses a range of disorders that affect the autonomic nervous system. It is commonly observed as a comorbidity in patients with hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (hEDS) or hypermobility spectrum disorder (HSD), and it can manifest with various symptoms such as brain fog, dizziness, heart palpitations, syncope, and more. There are numerous types of dysautonomia, including but not limited to Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS), Neurocardiogenic syncope, Orthostatic Intolerance (OI), Familial dysautonomia (FD), Inappropriate Sinus Tachycardia, and several others.

Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS)

Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS) is a condition characterized by excessive and inappropriate release of histamine and other mediators from mast cells, resulting in a wide range of symptoms throughout the body.  MCAS(& other mast cell issues) commonly coexists with hEDS/HSD. The symptoms of MCAS encompass various manifestations, including allergic reactions, skin rashes, gastrointestinal disturbances, respiratory issues, cardiovascular symptoms, and more. Numerous triggers, such as specific foods, medications, environmental factors, and stress, can contribute to MCAS, necessitating personalized and intricate management strategies.
