Dysautonomia

Dysautonomia encompasses a range of disorders that affect the autonomic nervous system. It is commonly observed as a comorbidity in patients with hEDS or HSD, and it can manifest with symptoms such as brain fog, dizziness, heart palpitations, syncope, and more. There are numerous types of dysautonomia, including POTS, neurocardiogenic syncope, orthostatic intolerance (OI), familial dysautonomia (FD), inappropriate sinus tachycardia, and others.

Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS)

MCAS is a condition characterized by excessive and inappropriate release of histamine and other mediators from mast cells, resulting in a wide range of symptoms throughout the body. MCAS commonly coexists with hEDS / HSD. Symptoms include allergic reactions, skin rashes, GI disturbances, respiratory issues, cardiovascular symptoms, and more. Triggers such as specific foods, medications, environmental factors, and stress can contribute to MCAS, requiring personalized management.
